This is a bilingual (Spanish & English) workshop focused on creating pots that are inspired by thinking of ourselves as pots. Pots that hold stories, our lives, our healing. We will carry these pots with us as reminders of our own lives.
Students will be utilizing beginners friendly coiling techniques and will be able to decorate their pieces with underglaze. There will be a time for movement in the first 30 minutes, noting that with clay, we don’t just construct with our hands, but with our whole body and mind.
Martha Alicia (Mujer Barro) is an artist from Oaxaca City, México. She is dedicated to her discoveries with clay, rituals, and ruptures. Kaylee Falcon is a multi-disciplinary artist and instructor from Los Angeles. She has worked in stop motion animation and teaches at POT. Her focus is where arts intersects with community and healing.
For ages 18+. All materials, firing and glazing included. No experience required.
