Ollas & Vases [Level 2 Wheel Workshop]

Learn to throw bigger vase forms as you make your own olla in this one-time, 3-hour wheel throwing workshop for level 2 students. 

What you'll learn:  How to throw bigger with 2 lbs of red clay, and shaping and altering vase forms on the wheel. 

What you'll make: You'll apply these skills to making your own olla or decorative unglazed vase.

Level 2: This is an intermediate level class. You should be comfortable with the centering and pulling process, even if not perfect. The curriculum cannot be adjusted for first-timers. 

Ollaa are traditional Indigenous vessels that slowly releases water through the porous unglazed clay to keep plants hydrated. This global practice has been around for centuries as a sustainable way to irrigate, and they're a beautiful example of ceramic form & function in the home.
