POT aims to highlight Iranian Arts & MENA culture. You do not need to speak, read or write Farsi to take this class. All are welcome!
Persian Calligraphy is a 3-hour workshop led by Moshir Safavi
Students will be introduced to basic Farsi/Arabic calligraphy methods and tools in modern calligraphic style using markers and ink. This includes learning how to connect letters to write words and sentences in calligraphic format. Students will take home a finished calligraphy piece in a geometric design.
Persian Calligraphy (خوشنویسی ایرانی) is one of the most revered arts throughout Persian history. The history of calligraphy in Iran dates back to the pre-Islamic era when Zoroastrian-influenced Persian culture held beautiful writings in high esteem. Its popularity skyrocketed following the arrival of Islam. It is an essential part of Iranian arts and deeply rooted in Persian culture and aesthetics.
This is NOT a pottery workshop. For ages 16+. All materials provided. No experience required.
This workshop has bi-lingual English/Farsi access. Class will be taught in English, but Farsi translation will be available.
